Wieger BAKKER, Prof. dr.

Wieger Bakker is associate professor in public governance at the Utrecht University School of Governance within the faculty of Law, Economics and Governance (LEG). Since 2010 he is director of the undergraduate school. In September 2012 he was appointed as a Utrecht University Teaching Fellow for the faculty LEG.

Central themes in his lecturing and research are among others: the tension between rationality and power in public policy formation and implementation; the role of governmental policy-making for the shape and change of public (welfare) institutions and the way in which public responsibilities are organised and executed within public institutions. Two policy sectors have his special attention: international development cooperation and education.

His fields of expertise are the following: international development cooperation as a Dutch policy domain; change of educational institutions; policy development and implementation within the (international) public domain.
